How exciting! We received word today from John Churchman of School Video News that one of our co-founder's, Barry Star Britt, articles in School Video News is the top read since Jan 1, 2009! The name of the article? Copyright Issues When Using Music in Videos—The Digital Age!
You know, this just goes to prove that it really is on everyone's mind. No matter how much we (we being society) try to ignore it and foolishly close out eyes real tight, like a child trying to hide from their parents, we can NOT get away from the copyright. It's there and you can not ignore and hope it goes away.
Besides, copyright IS fair. Think about it- you don't want someone else using your ideas or creations! I think 100% of you would agree that you would not be ok with that, and would almost feel violated. I know I would.
So, all we can do, as both educators and artist, is train the next generation on the proper use. What's the best way to train them? Lead by example. I challenge us all to this.
