Digital Citizenship - Media Permissions and Ethics are the Keys

When it comes to 21st Century Citizenship in education, we are now using Media Permissions and Ethics, combined with technology to stay ahead of the curve. The curve being, technology always challenges the law. Through MP&E (Media Permissions and Ethics), we FINALLY get ahead of that as educators who use media and multimedia for educational purposes.

If FAIR USE applies, then by all means use it - especially if you know how and when to apply it. As endorsers of Fair Use, it has been our observation that most students and teachers do not know when or how to apply Fair Use.

Now that we are all copyright holders, or, as a better phrase, owners of our digital works, whether as a teacher who has designed a lesson plan or a group of students who produced a video yearbook, media permissions and ethics and the ability to grant and request them is a major key to the success of digital citizenship for the 21st Century.
